CHILDREN S’MILES

December 2002

 COUNTDOWN 4 !! Â

Just 4 weeks until we all meet for our fabulous weekend at Disney!

By now you've made your AIR TRAVEL & OTHER RESERVATIONS, right?

As I run through the snow I think of the warm air (hopefully!) of Orlando, and the smiles on faces of our NACoA Run for the Children family.

COACH’S CORNER

Ron Kaufman sent an email to

those of us on the email list telling

us he is "pumped" and raring to go

for his full marathon.  Thanks for

sharing your greeting with all of us, Ron!  You'll have a great run simply being out there for the Children!

How about the rest of you?  Getting pumped?  Wired?  Geeked?  We'll have a grand time celebrating NACoA's birthday and your wonderful efforts.

AIR TRAVELERS:  remember to pack your marathon gear in a bag for the overhead compartment.  After all this work, you don't want to lose your essentials.

Are you making your list and checking it twice for the things you need to have on hand for your walk/run?  We each have our own special needs, but some of the things you should consider:

<  bandaids

<  running socks

<  food:  Gu, PowerBar

<  anti-inflammatory meds

<  gloves

<  sandals

<  disposable clothes

<  rain poncho

<  fanny pack

<  old glasses

<  ice packs

<  Vitamin E, Aloe, joint rub, Vaseline

<  nail clippers

<  herbal teas

OUR fundraising

Many of us are having great success getting donations through letter-writing.

It's an especially difficult time this year for many charities, in the wake of 9/11 and the economy.  It seems, sadly, that charities who work hard for CHILDREN are especially wanting in donations.  So it's more important than ever that you make this last push for people to reach into their pockets for The Children.  Suggest holiday gifts as donations to NACoA in the names of loved ones.
