Conference Goal
The goal of this conference is to increase the capacity of communities to meet the needs of COAs and other children with adverse childhood experiences. The objectives are (1) to educate professionals and community leaders about children of addicted parents; and, (2) to promote prevention efforts by increasing collaboration among prevention programs, professionals, and community leaders.

Why you should attend.
You can help the thousands of children in your community who are most at risk for developing alcohol and drug problems. By attending this conference you will gain the competencies that can make a difference in the lives of the one in four children who live with parents who have substance use disorders.

The most effective approach to stemming substance use disorders is through prevention efforts – improving protective factors, reducing risks, and building resilience in children and youth. Compelling evidence shows that supportive adults can foster resilience in children of addicted parents (COAs).

Professionals and community leaders who interact with children and youth, such as clergy, social workers and early childhood professionals, can make a big difference in the lives of these children and their families.
