INSPIRATIONS
Christina
Wherever we’re training for
our NACoA adventures, it’s inspiration that launched us, it’s inspiration that keeps us going.

We’re inspired by The Children’s needs
to raise awareness for all that NACoA and its Affiliates do. We’re inspired
by our own commitment to give something back --not simply by writing a check, but
by providing others the opportunity to contribute by pledging financial support
to us in our Run for The Children®.
We’re inspired by the exhilaration we feel as
we accomplish our training goals that underscore the importance of healthy
living.
Many of us find
inspiration in nature: Autumn’s vibrant trees, a
desert in bloom, a palm shadowing a warm beach.

And clearly, our inspiration waxes
and wanes as the seasons, with full lives that create ever-increasing demands
on our time and energy, with unexpected work requirements, training injuries,
minor and major crises of everyday living.
Yesterday, I met my NACoA
Marathon Relay Partner, Sue Moutsatson, for breakfast, because we needed to
inspire each other. She
needed a simple boost to her commitment, to getting back into the groove after
a busy summer; I needed to talk about how a major knee injury (freak accident
unrelated to running) has significantly sidelined and frustrated me: changing me from a long distance runner to a
short distance walker able to do little
beyond physical therapy and biking.
Yesterday we were Yin and
Yang. Sue knows she can go the distance
of a ˝
Each of us, in our uniqueness
and magnificence, as people committed to the Run
for The Children® are STARS simply because we’re out there, raising funds for NACoA and its Affiliates. Whether we
walk or run; whether we go a mile or twenty - we’re helping The Children®!
So the important things are to stay the course, do our best to continue to
raise funds and awareness for The
Children. Everyone gets a standing ovation!
COACH’S CORNER
Jackie Endicott has sent some
informative training tips via email and snail mail. As you know by now in your training, there’s
a lot more to walking & running long distances than signing your
registration form! It’s very important
to understand the stresses and strains and drains on our system, and to know
what are quick preventers
-- and remedies that’ll
get us back on our feet fast and best.
If
you have helpful hints, please send them along!
Email Paul or Christina or Jackie.
Caveat:
We don’t offer medical advice!
Just tips from many sources.
